Creating Innovative and Genuine Opportunities for People with Disabilities or Disadvantages to Support Their Community Participation
Tom Stadt has been a participant in MRCI’s Day Training and Habilitation Program for over a decade, and now works at MRCI-Rosemount. Even though the Rosemount facility was specifically designed to serve people in MRCI programs including Tom - it’s the relationships he has
developed with MRCI staff that make the biggest
difference.
Shannon Herr, a Support Plan Coordinator,
and Leslie Fougner, a Team Leader at MRCI-
Rosemount have worked with Tom on
communication issues. The result has
been dramatic. Tom, who has trouble
hearing and speaking, has learned to
use basic sign language to communicate
with staff. This has increased the
communication between Tom and
staff working in the Center-based
Production program.
For Tom, the relationships he has
created with MRCI staff, have
improved his quality of life. Tom
is happy and productive.
